The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an international organisation which makes policy recommendations on migration-related issues to governments and intergovernmental agencies. Founded by Austria and Switzerland as a think tank in 1993, and headquartered in Vienna.

Migration levels remain high in Western Africa today. The total number of emigrants more than doubled in the past 30 years, although their share of the population remained largely stable between 2.8 per cent at mid-year 1990 and 2.6 per cent at mid-year 2020.
