When Mark Gainey and I set out to create Strava in 2009, we intended to build a company that would support your lifelong pursuit of adventure and an active life. We knew the foundation we were laying would have to withstand the test of time to do that. We gave it the name “STRAVA” which means “to strive” in Swedish.

Is Strava a free walking app? Yes! You can join Strava for free to record and share activities, join clubs and challenges, and use safety features like Beacon.

For smartphone use, you'll need to download the free Strava app. Simply open your device's app store (the App Store for iPhones and Google Play for Android devices), search for Strava, and download the app. On your computer, it's even easier: Open your web browser and head to strava.com.

To get to your Profile, log into the Strava website and click your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner or left-hand side.
