The app is free to download. And creators can start thinking about how Lemon8 can fit into their existing social media tools. It could be a good idea for creators to sign up early so they get their preferred username.

Initially known as “Sharee” when ByteDance launched it in Japan in March 2020, Lemon8 was introduced in the US and the United Kingdom in February last year. The app is also available across Southeast Asia including in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Lemon8 is a free-to-download lifestyle app designed for young creatives to express themselves and discover diverse content.

Users are supposed to be at least 18 to be able to register for Lemon8. Kids can easily enter another birth year, though, and gain access.
